I am very concerned over the passage of AB 290 by the California State Legislature and am urging Gov. Gavin Newsom to veto it.
I need dialysis to stay alive and cannot afford to lose my charitable premium assistance if the American Kidney Fund leaves California due to this harmful legislation.
I rely on assistance because dialysis has prevented me from working. My job posed a great risk to my condition, and I became reliant on Social Security.
While I wait for a kidney from the transplant list, I need AKF support to cover my premiums.
I have benefited from AKF for the entirety of my battle with renal failure. Without the support of AKF, I would have to sell everything I own to stay alive. There’s no reason that victims of kidney disease should have to make that sacrifice.
